But No conventional scenes, almost no motion; it's an art object first and a story second, and some will find it cold.

Swap Dark's science for the occult and you get the same architecture: a bloodline trapped inside a design laid down before the characters were born, with free will exposed as an illusion.

A family discovers that the terrible thing binding three generations together was never a secret so much as a sentence already passed down. Same dread that you cannot escape what your parents did.

But Genuinely horrifying and grief-heavy — this is a horror film that means to disturb you, not a puzzle to admire from a safe distance.

Same engine — a time machine, a small group protecting history, consequences rippling across eras — running in a completely different key: optimistic and colorful where Dark wallows in despair.

A history teacher, a soldier, and a scientist chase a stolen time machine through American history, fixing small breaks in the timeline before they snowball. Breezy, earnest, and genuinely fun.

But Network-TV simplicity and a case-of-the-week structure; the moral weight and formal ambition of Dark are nowhere to be found.
