Terms of service
These are the terms on which you may use Sarita. Using the site means you accept them.
What Sarita is
Sarita recommends films and television programmes, and lets you keep track of what you have watched, what you thought of it, and what your friends are watching. It is free.
The recommendation text on this site is written by a large language model. It is generated from factual information about each title, and it can be wrong — about plot, about tone, occasionally about facts. Treat it as an enthusiastic opinion rather than a reference work. Every page carries this warning for the same reason.
Your account
- You must be 13 or older to create an account.
- One person, one account. Do not share it, and do not use anyone else's.
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has them.
- Your handle must not impersonate somebody else, and must not be chosen to mislead. We may reclaim a handle that does.
What you may not do
- Break the law, or use Sarita to harass, threaten or abuse anyone.
- Attempt to reach another person's data, or any part of the service you have not been given access to.
- Manipulate the ratings or the recommendation votes — including automated voting, or coordinating to push a title up or down. Votes are used to decide which pages get rewritten, so this wastes real money.
- Scrape the site at a volume that degrades it for other people, or resell its content.
- Upload or transmit malware, or try to disrupt the service.
We may suspend or remove an account that does these things. Where it is reasonable to do so we will say why.
Your content
Your ratings, lists and profile remain yours. You give us permission to store and display them as the service requires — showing your rating to a friend, for instance, if your settings allow it. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.
You can export everything, or delete your account outright, from your settings. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
Our content, and other people's
The site's design, code and generated text belong to the operator of Sarita. You may link to any page here freely.
Film and television information comes from third parties who require acknowledgement, and it remains theirs:
- TMDb — this product uses the TMDb API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDb.
- TVMaze — data licensed under CC BY-SA.
Posters and images are the property of their respective rights holders and are shown for identification.
Availability
Sarita is provided as it is, without warranty. It is a new service, it will sometimes be broken, and we do not promise it will be available or that its recommendations will suit you. We may change or withdraw features.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Nothing on this site is professional advice. It recommends television programmes.
Ending it
You can stop using Sarita at any time and delete your account from your settings. We may close an account that breaches these terms, and may withdraw the service entirely — if we do, we will give notice where we can, so you can export your data first.
Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be noted on this page with a new date above. Continuing to use Sarita after a change means you accept the revised terms.
Law, and getting in touch
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this does not remove protections you have under your own local law.
