Two officers lock horns beneath the ocean while the world edges toward nuclear war above it. Denzel Washington's by-the-book exec officer and Gene Hackman's old-school captain turn a launch order dispute into a claustrophobic battle of wills, and the film squeezes every drop of tension from a steel tube with no way out. Tense, smart, and surprisingly talky for an action film — for anyone who likes their thrillers to argue with themselves.

A black-and-white nightmare where a communications glitch sends American bombers toward Moscow with no way to recall them — the same countdown-to-annihilation dread as Crimson Tide, but set in war rooms instead of a sub.

But Stagey and dialogue-heavy by today's standards, with a bleakness that offers no comic relief.

Harrison Ford commands a crumbling Soviet nuclear sub in this based-on-fact disaster thriller — swap the mutiny for a meltdown and you've got the same pressure-cooker atmosphere.

But Reviews were mixed and the accents are a stretch, but the tension holds up.

One man refuses to go along with the room, and the tension of watching consensus crack under pressure is exactly the engine that drives Hunter's standoff against Ramsey — just with jurors instead of officers.

But No action, no weapons, just twelve men arguing in a hot room — a real gear shift if you came for a war film.

Strips away the fiction to show the real historical terror behind Crimson Tide's premise — same dread, documentary form, and a far more serious register.

Robert McNamara, in his own words, recounts how close the Cold War actually came to nuclear catastrophe — the real anxiety Crimson Tide dramatizes, told by a man who lived it.

But It's a talking-head documentary with no plot momentum — reflective and sobering rather than thrilling.
