If you want plot momentum this will frustrate you — but for character over incident, it's devastating and rare.

A hypnotic, mysterious Russian film about a returning father whose motives stay unreadable. If you loved Rectify's refusal to explain itself, this pushes that further.

But Even more oblique than Rectify — subtitled, near-wordless in places, and it never fully resolves what happened.
