Jon Stern

Jon Stern arrives in the small Georgia town as the outside advocate who helped spring Daniel Holden from death row after nineteen years. He's a lawyer with the innocence-project apparatus behind him, precise and watchful, still working the case even after the release, treating Daniel's freedom as unfinished business rather than a happy ending.

Luke Kirby plays him with a lawyer's coiled patience, a man used to losing slowly and winning rarely, which makes his devotion to Daniel feel earned rather than sentimental. The show resists making him a simple savior; he's competent, a little guarded, and genuinely unsettled by how uncertain 'exonerated' really is.
