Ted Talbot, Sr.

Ted Talbot, Sr. is Janet's husband and stepfather to Daniel, Amantha, and Teddy, a quiet man who has spent years running the family tire business and holding a fractured household together. As Daniel comes home from prison, Ted watches from the edges, wary but decent, trying to keep the peace without pretending he understands what any of them are feeling.

Bruce McKinnon plays him with such restraint that his silences carry more than most characters' speeches. Rectify is a show obsessed with people who don't know what to say, and Ted Sr. becomes its quiet moral center simply by trying, imperfectly and without fanfare, to do right by a family that keeps threatening to come apart.
