The Adam Project
A time-travel adventure where adult Ryan Reynolds teams up with his younger self to stop a catastrophe. It's got genuine warmth beneath the action-comedy wrapping, a touching meditation on fatherhood and regret, and the kind of earnest heart that makes you forgive the plot holes. For anyone who loves blockbusters that feel like a hug.
Should you watch it?
Watch it if you like time-travel adventures where the real engine is a grumpy adult and his sharper-tongued kid self bickering through unresolved grief, with jokes that land because the feelings underneath are taken seriously.
Skip it if you want sci-fi with tight logic or a slow, brooding atmosphere; this one is brisk, chatty and happy to trade rigorous time-travel mechanics for banter and quick-fire set pieces.
What it asks of you: Roughly a hundred and six minutes of easygoing, fast-moving action with plenty of sarcasm, asking you to go along with its physics and stay for the emotional turns rather than examine them.

Free Guy2021
Ryan Reynolds doing what he does best: cracking wise while the world explodes around him. The action is crisp, the jokes land, and it has a surprisingly generous spirit about second chances and self-worth.
But The plot is as predictable as they come, and the self-aware humour occasionally tips into trying too hard for laughs at the expense of momentum.

Back to the Future1985
The gold standard for time-travel adventure: tight plotting, genuine stakes, incredible heart, and the perfect blend of humour and wonder. It genuinely earns every emotional beat.
But If you need explosions and modern action pacing, the 1985 filmmaking might feel slow. It's built differently from modern blockbusters.

The Tomorrow War2021
Chris Pratt and his real-life father playing a fractured father-son pair across time. Surprisingly sincere about family and sacrifice underneath the sci-fi action spectacle.
But At over two hours, the middle sags, and the time-travel mechanics get confusing. Some of the action sequences are murky and hard to follow.

About Time2013
Both use time travel as a mechanism to repair a father-son relationship and make peace with the past rather than change the future.
A time-travel film that's actually about the father and son talking to each other, not saving the world. It's funny and warm, but carries profound sadness about mortality and lost moments. The genre elements serve the story.
But If you want sci-fi action, this will feel like a bait-and-switch. It's a British rom-com first, time-travel story second. Some find it saccharine.

Jungle Cruise2021
Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt in a romp that doesn't take itself seriously but clearly loves adventure films. Beautiful scenery, genuine chemistry, and unironic fun.
But It's frothy and inconsequential, which works for relaxation but not if you want anything to stick with you afterward.

Stardust2007
A fantasy adventure that balances comedy and genuine magic, with a young hero growing into himself and a cast that includes Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert De Niro. Joyful and smartly written.
But Some of the CGI hasn't aged gracefully, and the tone shift in the second half might feel uneven to modern eyes.

Spy Kids2001
Robert Rodriguez creates a kids' adventure that respects the intelligence of its young audience while delivering real thrills. The family dynamic is genuinely sweet and the imagination is boundless.
But The early-2000s CGI is very dated, and the tone veers between silly and perilous in ways that might feel unbalanced.

Twisters2024
Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones chase storms with real charm and chemistry. It's a popcorn film that knows exactly what it is and delivers thrills with genuine character work woven in.
But The plot is thin and the science is hand-waved. If you want anything beyond spectacle and banter, you'll leave hungry.

Red Notice2021
Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot in a heist comedy with genuine laughs and a tone that's comfortable with its own ridiculousness. Pure entertainment.
But Thin, forgettable, and coasts entirely on charisma. Once it's over, there's nothing there, and some of the humour punches sideways.
