Animated musical
Animation lets a song do things a stage cannot: the chorus can grow a city, a skeleton can dance its way through a graveyard, a cartoon rabbit can sing Wagner at full volume. These are stories where characters burst into music because the drawn world is willing to bend to meet them. You come away giddy, and a little surprised at how much a cheerful tune can hold.
