A public-access talk show hosted by a man having some kind of breakdown live on camera. Eric André destroys his own set every episode, ambushes strangers pretending to be celebrities, and interviews real famous people while doing his best to humiliate them and himself simultaneously. It's fifteen minutes of pure anarchic id — no arc, no mercy, no idea what's coming next. Not for anyone who needs a show to behave itself.
Should you watch it?
Watch it if you enjoy comedy that finds the cracks in a polished format, where the joke is a host losing control of the room and the audience is never sure whether to laugh or flinch.
Skip it if you need jokes that land on schedule, since the chaos is deliberately unpredictable and much of it is abrasive, cringe-heavy and built to test your patience.
What it asks of you: Short commitment, since episodes run about fifteen minutes, but you must keep up with a restless edit that cuts away fast and rarely lets a bit settle.

The direct spiritual ancestor — same Adult Swim DNA, same commitment to making comedy feel actively unpleasant and hilarious at once. If you like Andre's chaos, this is where that sensibility was incubated.
But Even more plotless and abrasive; some sketches are designed purely to make you uncomfortable, full stop.
Da Ali G Show2000
Sacha Baron Cohen ambushing unsuspecting real people while in absurd character is the clearest ancestor of Andre's celebrity-interview segments — the joke is entirely on the person who doesn't know it's a joke.
But More political and pointed than Andre's show; the satire has actual targets, which changes the flavor of the discomfort.
Nathan for You2013
Nathan Fielder inflicts absurd business schemes on real, unsuspecting small business owners with a deadpan so dry it becomes its own kind of chaos. Same DNA of real people reacting to fake premises, different temperature entirely.
But Glacially slow and awkward by design — if you want Andre's manic energy, this will feel like the opposite show.

Man Bites Dog1992
Both interrogate what happens when a camera crew stops being a neutral observer and starts provoking the chaos it's filming — one plays it as slapstick, the other as horror.
A Belgian mockumentary about a film crew that starts participating in the atrocities of the serial killer they're supposedly just documenting — a pitch-black inversion of the idea that a camera makes anything happening in front of it okay.
But Genuinely disturbing rather than funny-disturbing; this pushes the show's premise to a place with real moral weight and violence.

The purest ancestor of the show's physical destruction — no interviews, no format, just people wrecking their bodies and property for a laugh. Andre's set-smashing owes it a direct debt.
But Zero satire, zero structure — it's stunts and pain, nothing more, and some of it is genuinely hard to watch.
Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis2008
A fake low-budget talk show where real celebrities agree to be insulted on camera — the same bizarre contract Andre extracts from his guests, but shorter, drier, and stiller.
But Static and minimal compared to Andre's chaos; the humor is in awkward silences, not explosions.
Check It Out! with Dr. Steve Brule2010
A Tim and Eric spinoff parodying exactly the kind of cheap public-access broadcasting Andre is riffing on, with a host even more unraveled and confused than Andre pretends to be.
But John C. Reilly's Brule is sweetly pathetic rather than aggressive — a gentler, sadder kind of unraveling.
Comedy Bang! Bang!2012
A talk show parody where the guests are absurd fictional characters played by comedians, similar to Andre's fake-celebrity bits but with improv-comedy polish instead of anarchic menace.
But Much friendlier and more conventionally funny — none of the destruction, discomfort, or genuine chaos.
Trigger Happy TV2000
Early-2000s British hidden-camera show that ambushes real strangers with surreal props and situations — a tamer cousin to Andre's man-on-the-street segments.
But Dated and gentle by today's standards; feels quaint next to Andre's willingness to actually hurt himself.
Impractical Jokers2011
Four friends humiliate each other in public via hidden-camera dares — mainstream, likable, and built on the same engine of real bystanders reacting to scripted absurdity.
But Warm and toothless where Andre is feral; this is comfort food, not confrontation.
The Larry Sanders Show1992
Same target — the performative artifice of talk-show hosting — attacked from the opposite direction: quiet, cynical, and devastatingly controlled instead of gleefully out of control.
Garry Shandling's scripted satire of a late-night talk show host, obsessed with the gap between the warm persona on air and the petty, insecure man off it — the fakery of the format dissected with scalpel precision instead of a sledgehammer.
But Dialogue-driven and slow-burn where Andre is explosive — you're laughing at recognition, not at chaos.
