Drawn Together

Other titles called Drawn Together: the 2026 film.

Drawn Together is an adult animated comedy that parodies reality TV by trapping eight cartoon archetypes—a fairy tale princess, a superhero, a video game character, and others—in a house together. It's deliberately offensive, grotesquely animated, and commits fully to the absurdity of its premise. For viewers who find edgy comedy funny rather than exhausting.

Should you watch it?

Watch it if you love cartoons that mock their own clichés with profane, rapid-fire gags, and you can laugh at bad taste without needing it to mean anything.

Skip it if you bristle at gleefully crude, offensive jokes, since the bad taste is the whole engine, and the characters rarely go deeper than their gags.

What it asks of you: Half an hour per episode, thirty-six episodes across three seasons, with a fast cutaway rhythm; it wants you alert for the next gag and patient with its shock-first style.

If you liked this

South Park1997

Pioneered the deliberately offensive adult cartoon format with sharper cultural commentary. If you enjoyed Drawn Together's willingness to say anything, this has more bite and longevity across 25+ seasons.

But Much darker in tone. The jokes land differently when they're actually about something beyond shock value, which some find less fun.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force2000

Absurdist animated comedy about three weird roommates solving bizarre problems. Similar energy of characters trapped together, anarchic humor, and willingness to be deliberately stupid in service of comedy.

But Even more deliberately nonsensical. There's no narrative momentum—if randomness alone doesn't make you laugh, you'll find it exhausting.

Clone High2002

Adult-aimed parody of teen TV tropes with a cast of historical figures as high schoolers. Shares Drawn Together's gleeful willingness to lampoon familiar formats and characters with rapid-fire jokes.

But Shorter-lived and ends abruptly. The references are very 2000s, and the satire sometimes disappears into pure silliness.

The wildcard

Something you would not have found on your own.

Scream 21997

Both use the format itself as the joke: characters aware they're in a type of story and bound by those rules, but unable to escape them.

A slasher film structured as a deconstruction of slasher sequels, with characters explicitly discussing what's allowed in horror movies. Shares Drawn Together's commitment to parodying and deconstructing familiar formats from within.

But It's a genuine horror film underneath the meta-commentary. If you want pure comedy, the kills are played straight and occasionally graphic.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia2005

Live-action equivalent: five terrible people in confined spaces doing increasingly deranged things. Same willingness to let characters be awful, same commitment to escalation and chaos.

But The humor is cringe-based and character-driven rather than joke-driven. If you prefer gags to awkwardness, this won't land the same way.

Beavis and Butt-Head1992

The spiritual ancestor of adult animated comedy. Two stupid characters commenting on the world, zero moral center, pure irreverence. Redemption arc optional.

But Slower pacing and thinner jokes by modern standards. Long stretches where the humor rests entirely on finding stupidity itself funny.

Beavis and Butt-Head poster

Metalocalypse2006

Animated comedy about a death metal band, structured as parody. Detailed animation, genuine character development hidden under shock humor, and a surprisingly coherent mythology underneath.

But Metal culture references can feel insular. If you don't care about the genre, you'll miss layers of the joke.

Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law2000

Parody of cartoon lawyer shows using forgotten superhero IP. Sharp absurdist writing, clever riffing on source material, better structured jokes than pure chaos-comedy.

But Heavy reliance on knowledge of 1960s cartoon lore. Without that context, many episodes feel pointless rather than funny.

Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law poster

The Eric Andre Show2012

Anarchic talk show parody with horror-comedy sensibility. Similar willingness to make viewers uncomfortable, same commitment to derailing expectations and breaking format.

But Live-action and more aggressively uncomfortable. Shock is the entire point—there's no safety net of plot.

Paradise PD2018

Adult animated comedy about dysfunctional cops, directly descended from Drawn Together's shock-humor lineage. If you want something newer with the same energy, this is it.

But Netflix cancelled it after two seasons. Reviews are harsh—many find it offensive without being funny, just trying harder at the wrong things.

Cabaret1972

Both use exaggeration, absurd character types, and theatrical excess to comment on reality rather than escape it—but Cabaret means it, and that's the point.

A musical where the entertainment is deliberately hollow and grotesque, performed by morally compromised people in a collapsing society. Dark, cynical, beautiful, and structured as pure spectacle despite the horror underneath.

But It's a serious film about Weimar Germany and the rise of fascism. The musical numbers are intentionally sordid rather than joyful, and the ending is devastating.
