Same bones exactly — a woman in danger, thrown together with a man whose intentions she can't verify, forced proximity doing the romantic heavy lifting. Charade got there decades before bodyguards were a genre unto themselves, with sharper dialogue and more genuine doubt about who's lying.

Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn, in a wickedly funny Hitchcock-adjacent romance-thriller about a woman who can't tell if the charming man protecting her is exactly what he seems. It did this plot first, and better, with actual wit.

But Its dialogue-driven, old-Hollywood pacing won't deliver the modern heat or visual polish you might expect.

It takes the exact narrative engine — a kidnapping that throws strangers together under pressure — and refuses the romantic payoff, showing how dark that same premise gets when nobody's allowed to fall in love instead of falling apart.

Same central mechanism — a kidnapping that reshapes everyone around it — but stripped of romance entirely and played dead serious. Jackman and Gyllenhaal anchor a bleak, morally exhausting thriller about what desperation does to good people.

But It's grim, slow, and offers none of the swoony release Drawn Together promises — pure dread, no comfort.
