Parody
Parody takes a familiar story, format or hero and pushes it until the seams show, so the joke lands on the convention itself. You get the pleasure of recognising what's being mocked, plus the giddy moment when a straight-faced scene tips into absurdity. It's best when the target is loved as much as it's laughed at.
