The original tribal council - British schoolboys stranded on an island form factions, elect a leader, and watch civilization crumble into savagery. It's the bleak ancestor of everything Survivor turns into a game.

But Grim and unrelentingly bleak, with none of Survivor's cheerful competitive spirit; this is about collapse, not gameplay.

Strips away the social game entirely and asks what Survivor's premise would look like if it were actually about surviving - no alliances, no tribal council, just one person and starvation.

But Slower and far lonelier; if you watch Survivor for the drama between people, this show has essentially none.

But A slow-building drama with almost no game or competition; fans of Survivor's adrenaline may find it too contemplative.
