The obvious next stop and rightly so — a con artist posing as a psychic solves crimes through sharp observation, played almost entirely for comedy. Same trick, sunnier disposition.

But It's broader and goofier throughout; if you liked Jane's darker undertow, this stays light nearly all the time.

Monk2002

A brilliant, damaged detective whose quirks are both his gift and his curse, solving impossible cases with maddening precision. The same blend of comedy and genuine deduction that made Jane work.

But Monk's OCD is played broadly for laughs at times, which can feel dated or uncomfortable by today's standards.

Castle2009

A charismatic outsider consultant paired with a no-nonsense female detective, trading barbs over dead bodies for eight seasons. If you liked the Jane-Lisbon dynamic, this is its direct cousin.

But The mystery writer premise is thinner than Jane's backstory, and the will-they-won't-they runs longer than some patience allows.

Both detectives win by performing harmlessness while running rings around everyone — the theatrical trick at the heart of Jane's method has a direct ancestor here.

But Slower pacing and no serialized mystery; each episode reveals the killer upfront, so the pleasure is purely in the unraveling.

But No murders, no plot — just interviews and archival footage about magic and deception as craft and inheritance.

Where Jane's revenge hunt stays buoyant and eventually resolves, this shows what that same premise looks like without the wit — obsession as slow ruin rather than clever game.

An obsessive, years-long hunt for a serial killer who taunts investigators and is never conclusively caught — the same engine as Jane's Red John arc, but stripped of charm and played dead serious.
