Treasure hunt
Somebody has a map, a half-remembered clue, or a rumour about gold buried under a ghost town, and the whole story becomes a race to reach the spot before the wrong people do. These films and series love the moment the riddle finally cracks and the ground gives way under a crew of mismatched friends. If you want adventure that runs on curiosity and pure forward momentum, this is a good place to start.
