Comedy western
Think of a dusty main street where the gunslinger is also the one who has to explain the rules of poker to a bewildered tenderfoot. Comedy westerns keep the saddles, saloons and showdowns, then let the pompous, the cowardly and the sly take over the frontier. Blazing Saddles is the loud touchstone, but the best ones also leave you fond of the sagebrush, which is harder than it sounds.
