Film
Housefull 4
- Comedy
- Light-hearted
A Bollywood comedy about reincarnation, mistaken identity, and three couples separated by 600 years. Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol and Riteish Deshmukh lead a sprawling farce across periods, with romantic reunions constantly foiled by mix-ups and chaos. It's broad, energetic, designed for maximum laughter and spectacle—pure masala entertainment that doesn't pretend to be anything else.

Housefull 32016
The previous film in the franchise with the same DNA: ensemble chaos, multiple timelines, romance, and comedy that aims for the cheap seats. If you liked the energy here, see where it came from.
But It's not meaningfully different from Housefull 4. Familiarity with the formula might make it feel redundant rather than comforting.

Golmaal Again2017
Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty's supernatural comedy handles similar chaos—ghosts, confusion, ensemble cast—with genuine warmth underneath the madness. Same spirit, slightly sharper execution.
But Slower pacing in places, and the supernatural elements are more plot-driven than Housefull's pure chaos.

Welcome2007
Akshay Kumar in the film that perfected Bollywood's modern comedy-romance template. Criminal romance, case of mistaken identity, multiple heroines, and constant escalation. The playbook Housefull 4 follows.
But Early 2000s aesthetic and pacing might feel dated; it's also more grounded than this reincarnation romp.

The wildcard
Something you would not have found on your own.
The Poseidon Adventure1972
Both are ensemble films that treat chaos as romantic opportunity rather than tragedy; both believe spectacle and ensemble comedy can coexist with genuine feeling.
Disaster-comedy epic where an ensemble cast of distinct types must navigate chaos. Released 50 years before Housefull 4, it invented the blueprint: multiple couples, high stakes treated as comedy, colour and scale and optimism.
But Slow by modern standards, and the tone swings between camp and melodrama in ways that will feel tonal whiplash if you're used to consistent broad comedy.

Student of the Year 22019
Released the same year, same genre DNA: romance, comedy, beautiful people, a romance-driven plot that's secondary to the spectacle. Quick and uncomplicated.
But Lighter and less ambitious, with less charisma in the lead. Feels more like filler than a full meal.

Dilwale2015
Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol's romance-action-comedy with a similar ensemble sprawl, exotic locations, and the same willingness to sacrifice logic for fun. Warm and big-hearted.
But Nearly two and a half hours feels long for what is essentially a rom-com. The plot threads don't always pay off.

Jabariya Jodi2019
Siddhant Chaturvedi and Parineeti Chopra in a smaller-scale Bollywood romance-comedy with genuine chemistry and heart. Same year, same broad ambitions, cleaner execution.
But Quieter and less flashy than Housefull 4's maximalism. If you want spectacle, this is understated.

Coolie No. 12020
Varun Dhawan's remake of a classic farce: mistaken identity, romance, comedy of confusion at maximum volume. Similar structure, updated for now.
But Feels unnecessary as a remake, and can't quite justify why it needed to exist rather than just rewatching the original.

It's Entertainment2014
Akshay Kumar in a ship-based comedy-thriller with ensemble chaos and romance. Shows his range in this exact genre, with Tamannaah and Kriti Kharbanda (who's in Housefull 4).
But Messy and overstuffed, even by masala standards. Plot drowns in spectacle without the charm.

Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya2024
Where Housefull 4 uses reincarnation and chaos to create romantic confusion, this achieves the same confusion with a single absurd premise executed cleanly. Same DNA, radical simplification.
Ayushmann Khurrana and Kriti Sanon (who's in Housefull 4) in a romance-comedy where the premise is absurd and nobody cares. One of the leads is a robot. It's modern, warm, stylish, and genuinely funny without needing 600 years of reincarnation as setup.
But The sci-fi premise is window dressing; if you want the romance-comedy core without the spectacle, this proves it can work on a smaller stage.
