But Glacially paced and almost entirely dialogue — no scheming villains, no scandal, just very articulate rich kids being anxious.

Cruel Intentions1999

Stepsiblings scheme, seduce and destroy their way through Upper East Side society — basically Chuck and Blair's spiritual ancestors, minus the redemption arc.

But Darker and more explicitly cruel than the show ever gets, with none of Gossip Girl's eventual softness.

Small-town instead of Manhattan, but the same tangled love triangles, betrayals, and surprisingly durable friendships stretched across a very long run.
