Race 2

Race 2 is a slick, globe-trotting action thriller that prioritizes spectacle and twists over coherence. It's a Bollywood heist-revenge picture built on double crosses, exotic locations, and the kind of plot turns that don't survive a second viewing. For viewers who want style, swagger, and not to think too hard.

TMDb rating2.7

Should you watch it?

Watch it if you like glossy, sun-bleached action where car chases, cons and sleek villains are the point, and a plot that keeps shuffling its loyalties is part of the fun.

Skip it if you want a tight, grounded thriller, because this runs close to two and a half hours and lets its stunts and gloss outweigh its story.

What it asks of you: Settle in for a long stretch, since at 150 minutes it moves in loud bursts with talky stretches between, and its tone swings from brooding to breezy.

If you liked this

John Wick2014

If you want a revenge thriller with genuine craft: propulsive pacing, inventive action, and a lead actor fully committed to the bit. Keanu Reeves is unstoppable here.

But It's relentlessly grim and violent without much levity—there's no joy in the carnage, just cold efficiency and grief.

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift2006

Chase sequences across multiple continents, a ridiculous plot you're not meant to examine closely, and characters defined by style. It knows exactly what it is.

But The tone is uneven and the emotional beats land awkwardly. Also, Dom Toretto barely appears, which will upset some franchise loyalists.

Dhoom 22006

Bollywood's playbook for international action spectacle. Gorgeous locations, a charming thief-versus-cop dynamic, and Hrithik Roshan doing things that seem physically impossible.

But The plotting is paper-thin and it occasionally lapses into self-parody. You have to surrender to the aesthetics entirely.

The wildcard

Something you would not have found on your own.

Salaam Namaste2005

Your chance to see Padukone doing something completely different—not a love interest in an action set piece, but the emotional centre of a relationship story.

Deepika Padukone's Hindi film debut—a romantic comedy that proves her charisma and range before the action films. It's funny, warm, and genuinely charming.

But It's a romantic dramedy, not an action film. The pacing is leisurely and modern rom-com sensibilities might find it dated.

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol2011

Tom Cruise executing impossible action sequences across Dubai, Moscow, and Mumbai. It's got real wit, genuine stakes, and stunts that cost millions and show every penny.

But The script occasionally gets tangled in its own complexity. Some set pieces go on a beat too long.

Kill Bill: Vol. 12003

A revenge thriller that treats violence as art, with Tarantino's unmistakable style at full throttle. The action is balletic and the movie knows it's gorgeous.

But It's a stylistic overload for some—the tone shifts wildly and the plot is deliberately thin. Ultraviolence may be a hard no.

Kill Bill: Vol. 1 poster

Thugs of Hindostan2018

Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan in an ambitious period action epic that swings for the fences with spectacle and ambition, even when it misses.

But The plotting is muddled and the pacing drags despite two megastars. It's an expensive film that doesn't always justify its budget on screen.

Rosemary's Baby1968

A tighter, more focused Bollywood thriller about undercover agents taking down terrorists. Akshay Kumar anchors it with intensity and the action set pieces actually land.

But It's darker and more po-faced than Race 2—there's less style and charm, more grim procedural efficiency.

Bang Bang!2014

Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif in a glossy, unhinged action romance across multiple continents. Utterly ridiculous and fully committed to being a beautiful thing.

But The plot is actively nonsensical and the emotional beats feel tacked on. It's almost aggressively indifferent to making sense.

Death Race2008

The original that started this franchise: Saif Ali Khan, twisty plotting, and enough double crosses to make your head spin. It's the blueprint Race 2 followed.

But It's showing its age in places and the pacing feels dated. Some of the early-2000s Bollywood conventions will grate if you're not in the mood.

Bullet Train2022

Both build their energy from rapid-fire plotting and stacked casts more interested in charisma than character depth. The fun is in watching beautiful people do impossible things.

Brad Pitt in a hyperkinetic action comedy that treats a confined space like a pinball machine. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, and Joey King are scene-stealers. It's gleeful.

But The tone is relentlessly quippy and self-aware—it never sits quietly. If you want grounded action, this is the opposite.

The Bourne Identity2002

Both are international spy thrillers with double crosses and globe-trotting, but Bourne treats it as documentary and Race 2 treats it as ballet. They're the same engine in completely different costumes.

If you want to see what happens when a thriller prioritizes coherence: Matt Damon as an amnesiac operative, handheld camera work that makes violence feel real, and a plot that clicks together.

But It's the opposite aesthetic of Race 2—gritty, handheld, deliberately unglamorous. It refuses to let you enjoy the spectacle. It's exhausting by design.
