Four More Shots Please!

Four More Shots Please! is a sharp, irreverent comedy-drama about millennial friendship in Mumbai. It's raucous and messy, full of betrayals and reconciliations, nights out and morning-afters. The women at its centre are gloriously unpolished—ambitious, selfish, hilarious, and real. It's for anyone who's ever felt too much and drunk too much trying to figure it out.

Should you watch it?

Watch it if you enjoy comedy built on messy friendships, where the women are vain, reckless and funny in equal measure and the show never tidies them up.

Skip it if the humour leans on bad decisions and loud nights out, so if you need characters to earn your sympathy quickly, its self-absorption may wear thin.

What it asks of you: Episodes run around 35 minutes across four seasons, and it wants loose, easy attention and patience with characters who keep choosing badly rather than sustained suspense.

Sex and the City1998

The obvious ancestor: four women, different personalities, urban backdrop, frank talk about desire and ambition. But this version subverts it—these women aren't aspirational fantasies, they're messier and truer.

But The show's pacing can drag. Some episodes feel stretched thin, and the tonal shifts between comedy and drama don't always land.

Fleabag2016

Character-driven comedy that finds the tragic in the comic. Both shows understand that brilliant women can be catastrophically self-destructive and that's the point, not a flaw to be fixed.

But Fleabag's narrative voice and fourth-wall breaks are so distinctive that the comparison can feel limiting. Different show, different energy—just similarly funny about female chaos.

Insecure2016

Issa Rae captures the same blend of comedy and genuine hurt. Female friendships that survive betrayal, careers that disappoint, the comedy of cultural misfit. Both shows refuse to let women be one thing.

But Insecure trades Mumbai's glitz for LA's more grounded reality. The tone feels less celebratory, more introspective—a different flavor of smart comedy.

The wildcard

Something you would not have found on your own.

Wanderlust2018

Both use comedy and chaos as a vehicle for asking what we owe each other and what we actually want versus what we're supposed to want.

A British miniseries about marriage and desire. Stylish, frank, uncomfortable. Uses comedy to interrogate how little we know the people closest to us—same project as Four More Shots but aimed at coupling and commitment.

But Only four episodes and a very different tone—less celebratory, more elegiac. Less about friendship than about the limits of intimacy.

Veep2012

Vicious, intelligent ensemble comedy where no one's a hero. The constant betrayals and alliances mirror how Four More Shots portrays friendship—funny because it's true, hard because it's true.

But Veep's humor is much darker and more viciously satirical. If you want warmth alongside the chaos, Veep's colder approach might feel exhausting.

Girls2012

Lena Dunham's exploration of unpolished female characters navigating careers, sex, and friendship in their twenties. Same refusal to make women likeable or redemptive in conventional ways.

But Girls can feel self-indulgent and its humour is often cringey. Some find the characters so flawed they become unwatchable rather than compelling.

Devs2020

Another South Asian woman grappling with desire, family, ambition, and her own contradictions. Never apologizing for being messed up and hilarious simultaneously.

But Devi's set in high school—the stakes and scope are smaller. It's also more focused on one character rather than ensemble dynamics.

Godless2017

A town run by women where everyone's flawed, funny, and fighting. Friendships that crackle with complexity and conflict. The show trusts women to be fascinating without being fixed.

But It's a Western, not a contemporary comedy. The genre shift might feel like watching a completely different kind of show, even if the character work resonates.

The Good Place2016

Character-first comedy with heart. The female friendships feel earned and genuine amid the chaos. Optimistic about human mess in a way Four More Shots also is.

But The show's philosophical framework can feel precious. It's also fundamentally about redemption and improvement—Four More Shots is mostly about just surviving yourself.

Please Like Me2013

Australian comedy-drama about a group navigating their twenties with humor and vulnerability. Messy relationships, genuine stakes, comedy that bleeds into sadness seamlessly.

But It's quieter and more introspective. If you want the raucousness and nightlife energy of Four More Shots, this will feel too small.

Glee2009

Both center female friendships as salvation and ruin. Both understand that the people who hurt you most are the ones you can't leave.

Lurid, sincere, maudlin ensemble drama about misfits finding home in each other. Musical numbers let emotion flood in without apology. When it works, it's transportive in a way Four More Shots never attempts.

But Glee is earnest to the point of self-parody, and its tonal whiplash—comedy to musical theater to tragedy—feels chaotic in a frustrating way, not a fun one.

Made in Heaven2019

Both are Indian prestige TV that refuse to be reverent about Indian life. Both find the comedy and tragedy in the same moment, usually involving class and desire.

Indian web series about two wedding planners observing Delhi's elite. Gossipy, beautifully shot, funnier than it has any right to be. Captures Indian wealth and aspiration with the same unsentimental eye.

But It's slower-paced and less propulsive. The ensemble cast means less focus on the depth of any single relationship. Episodes can feel like setups for one-liners rather than narratives.
