Funny for anyone, essential for farce lovers.

A landmark documentary about the New York drag ball scene — real people building chosen families and finding glory in performance while facing rejection and poverty most farces never show.

But It's nonfiction and often heartbreaking; several of its subjects didn't survive what the film depicts.

A different disguise, same domestic chaos — a parent maintaining an elaborate act under one roof, milking every near-discovery for maximum comic panic.
