Chandralekha
Other titles called Chandralekha: the 1948 film, the 1995 film.
- Drama
- Light-hearted
A 1998 Telugu romantic comedy built on mistaken identity and chaos. When a man rescues a woman from an accident, her family assumes he's her husband while she's unconscious. He goes along with it—naturally—and complications multiply when her friend arrives. It's frothy, earnest, and deeply committed to the bit.

Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi?2018
Modern Telugu ensemble comedy that shares the same DNA: multiple storylines, mistaken identities, characters talking past each other in ways that somehow make sense. Proof the formula still works when executed with affection.
But Newer doesn't mean better. Some prefer the older films' straightforwardness to modern Telugu cinema's scattered plotting.

Gharana Mogudu1992
Nagarjuna again, in a comedy-drama about class and marriage. Shows he's worked this territory his whole career. Good companion piece if you want to see where his romantic-lead playbook comes from.
But 1990s Telugu cinema can feel stagey and melodramatic to modern viewers. Not everyone's patience extends that far back.

Ninne Pelladatha1996
Nagarjuna with Tabu in a romantic comedy that balances sentiment and silliness. If you liked his chemistry in Chandralekha, this shows another shade of the same appeal.
But The romance is fairly conventional. If you're looking for plot surprises rather than star comfort, look elsewhere.

Arjun1985
Nagarjuna's breakout role in an action-drama with comedic relief. Shows his range before he settled into romantic leads. A genuine piece of Telugu cinema history.
But Action cinema from the 80s feels very different in pacing and style. The comedy elements haven't aged particularly well.

Indra2002
Nagarjuna in a bigger-budget romance with elaborate comedic sequences. Later in his career, showing how he evolved the romantic-lead template as he aged.
But By this point the formula was getting tired even for Telugu audiences. It's watchable but shows diminishing returns on the basic structure.
