Ninja Sentai Kakuranger: The Movie
A 1994 Japanese sentai film where five ninjas in colour-coded suits rescue a kidnapped boy from supernatural forces. It's bright, kinetic, sincere about its stakes despite the fantastical setting, and designed for kids but assembled with real craft. Perfect if you want action that doesn't insult your intelligence or your sense of fun.
Should you watch it?
Watch it if you love tokusatsu's colourful suit-up sequences, cheap-and-cheerful practical effects, and heroes who treat a kidnapping as seriously as a sword fight.
Skip it if you want a tight, grounded plot; at half an hour this is a bright, rushed sketch where the monsters and gadgets do the talking and character barely gets room.
What it asks of you: Half an hour from start to finish, so no slow setup: it sprints, plays loud and bright, and needs you to take its costumes entirely at face value.
