LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Batman Be-Leaguered
- Superhero
- Light-hearted
A speedy LEGO adventure where Batman's stubbornness meets the Justice League's need for backup. Brightly coloured, irreverent, and pitched perfectly at kids who love both superheroes and the particular absurdist humour of the brick-based universe. Quick enough to hold attention, silly enough to make adults smile.
Should you watch it?
Watch it if you enjoy LEGO comedy that pokes fun at superhero team dynamics and the grumpy loner-hero routine, and want a quick, bright romp with plenty of brick-built slapstick.
Skip it if the jokes are broad and it runs only about twenty-two minutes, so if you want the story to breathe or characters to go deep, it will feel like a snack.
What it asks of you: Twenty-two minutes of light, brisk attention with quick cuts and little patience for quiet moments, easy to take in one sitting before the kettle boils.

The Lego Batman Movie2017
Will Arnett's Batman is hilariously emo and self-absorbed. The humour lands for all ages, the action sequences are genuinely inventive, and it's a proper film, not a quickie. The emotional core about family sneaks up on you.
But Some find the constant gags exhausting. If you prefer your superhero stories played straight, this relentless comedy might wear thin.

Justice League Action2016
Fast, punchy episodes that nail the same balance of action and humour. Kevin Conroy returns as Batman. It respects you enough not to overstay its welcome and finds comedy in genuine character dynamics rather than forcing it.
But Only two seasons. The animation is simpler than what you might expect, though it suits the quick pace.

Superman/Batman: Apocalypse2010
A darker take on the team-up idea, gorgeously animated. Batman and Superman clash, Supergirl arrives, and the film takes its emotional stakes seriously. Still accessible; just more grown-up than LEGO's approach.
But The tone shift from comedy to genuine peril might feel jarring if you're coming straight from a LEGO film. Animated, yes—but this one means business.

The wildcard
Something you would not have found on your own.
Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay2018
Both are team-building exercises where reluctant characters have to learn to work together. But where LEGO finds comedy in the clash, this finds tragedy and genuine danger.
A supervillain team gets sent on a suicide mission. Animated, gloriously weird, with actual character arcs for people you've never heard of. The action is inventive and the dialogue crackles—this is where DC animation takes real risks.
But It's violent and crude in a way that has nothing to do with LEGO's irreverence. Some of the jokes land harder on adult sensibilities than family ones.

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Aquaman - Rage of Atlantis2018
Same universe, same irreverent energy, but Aquaman gets the spotlight and the script finds surprisingly sharp jokes about his reputation. The underwater action sequences are colourful nonsense in the best way.
But If you didn't love the LEGO Batman formula, this won't convince you it needed another spin.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold2008
A gem. Lighter than most Batman media but clever, with strong writing and stellar voice work. Each episode pairs Batman with a different DC hero, so you get variety and genuine chemistry between characters.
But The art style is deliberately retro, which some find dated. It's episodic, so it lacks the arc-driven storytelling modern audiences expect.

Batman: Under the Red Hood2010
A genuinely thrilling Batman story with emotional weight. Jason Todd returns, murder mysteries unravel, and the animation is sharp. Proves the animated medium can tell complex, adult superhero stories with real stakes.
But Dark and violent in ways that will blindside you if you're expecting something playful. This is not a family film.

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: The Flash2018
Flash gets his own LEGO adventure with the same zippy charm. Time travel, speedster humour, and Batman showing up to be grumpy. Breezy and entertaining, exactly what it sets out to be.
But Slight. If you're looking for substance, these LEGO films aren't built for that. But if you want bright colour and stupid laughs for a half-hour, you know what you're getting.

Invincible2021
Both use the superhero team formula, but Invincible asks what it actually costs to be young and super-powered. The optimism inverts entirely.
A teenager discovers he has superpowers and joins a superhero team. Looks animated and youthful, but the script does something cruel and unexpected in episode one that recontextualizes everything. Brilliant, brutal, genuinely moving.
But The tonal whiplash from comic-book fun to graphic violence happens without warning. It's not for kids despite looking like it could be. Pacing slows in the middle season.

Monsters vs Aliens2009
Structurally identical—misfits forced to become heroes—but it's live-action adjacent and American in a different way. Less comic-book reverence, more monster-movie fun. Feels like LEGO's scrappier, less famous cousin.
A ragtag team of rejected weirdos is thrown together to save Earth. DreamWorks animation, rapid-fire jokes, genuine affection for its misfits. The comedy is sharper than you'd expect, the action is colourful mayhem, and it's completely entertaining.
But Tries so hard to be funny that it can feel scattered. The plot is thin even by team-movie standards. Some gags feel dated, depending on your patience for mid-2000s animation humour.
