Until We Meet Again

A Thai supernatural romance about two men who find each other across lifetimes. After a tragic love affair in 1989 ends in death, they're reincarnated decades later, drawn together by an inexplicable pull neither can explain. It's dreamlike and melancholic, mixing past-life trauma with present-day yearning. For anyone who loves stories about souls recognizing each other.

Should you watch it?

Watch it if you want a slow-burning romance where the fantasy of fate matters less than the ache of two people who keep searching for each other across lifetimes, told with real patience.

Skip it if you need a brisk plot or a light, breezy romance, since this one is long, weighty, and carries heavy themes of prejudice that sit over nearly every scene.

What it asks of you: Seventeen hour-long episodes that unfold at a deliberately unhurried pace, with long pauses, melancholy stretches, and a steady tenderness rather than rapid plot movement.

2gether The Series2020

A lighter Thai BL that balances humour with genuine emotional depth. Two leads with real chemistry navigate fake dating, family expectations, and slowly real feelings. Perfect if you want the romance without the metaphysical weight.

But The first half leans heavily comedic, which might feel tonal whiplash if you're drawn to Until We Meet Again's seriousness. Some find the fake-dating premise contrived.

Chungking Express1994

Both films use supernatural or metaphysical framing to ask: what if the person you're meant to meet is already written into your life? Both suggest fate might be real, or the need to believe in it might be.

Wong Kar-wai's masterpiece about missed connections and the possibility of finding yourself in a stranger's face. Gorgeously shot, melancholic, about the ache of almost-meetings and the colour of time passing. Deeply romantic without being sentimental.

But Deliberately oblique plotting. Chronology is deliberately confusing. If you want clarity, this will frustrate you. Stylish to the point of seeming cold if you're not in its wavelength.
