Luck
A heist-thriller about a gambler who assembles a team of lucky people for a high-stakes survival game. Sanjay Dutt leads an ensemble cast through elaborate set pieces and twists, delivering the kind of Bollywood spectacle that prioritizes scale and momentum over plausibility. It's for viewers who want bombast, camaraderie, and the pleasure of not thinking too hard.

The Ocean's 11 Story2001
A stylish ensemble heist where charisma and chemistry matter as much as the plot. The joy is watching smart people work together under pressure, with witty banter and creative solutions. It set the template that Luck borrows from.
But Entirely plot-driven, so if you're not engaged by the mechanics of the con, there's not much else holding your attention. The tone is light in a way that doesn't suit everyone.

Commando - A One Man Army2013
Another Sanjay Dutt action vehicle with similar DNA: an agile hero, international locations, high body counts, and an absurd plot that knows exactly what it is. Pure momentum cinema with genuine stunts and charm.
But The story is genuinely flimsy and the dialogue can be clunky. If you need narrative coherence or character depth, this isn't the film.

Death Race2008
A multi-layered thriller with an ensemble cast, globe-trotting locales, and enough double-crosses to keep you guessing. Abbas Tyrewala's intricate plotting rewards attention and rewatch, with style to spare.
But The twists can feel contrived if you're not in the right headspace. Some characters exist purely to serve the plot, leaving you with thin motivations.

Gangs of Wasseypur - Part 12012
Both build their worlds through ensemble dynamics and luck as a driving force, but Wasseypur asks what happens when luck runs out and people have to live with what they've done.
A sprawling, violent epic about crime and survival with an ensemble cast in multiple timelines. It has Luck's sense of scale and camaraderie, but with ballast: real stakes, real consequences, and a moral weight that transforms everything.
But It's nearly five hours across two films, graphically violent, and concerns itself with the deaths and ruin of ordinary people. It's a commitment and it leaves you rattled rather than exhilarated.

Golmaal – Fun Unlimited2006
Rohit Shetty's anarchic comedy about a group of misfit friends. The energy and ensemble chemistry feel like what Luck is trying to capture, but with more laughs and less pretense toward seriousness.
But The humor is broad and sometimes juvenile. If you prefer wit over shouting and physical comedy, it'll wear you out quickly.

Chandni Chowk to China2009
Akshay Kumar in a globe-trotting action-comedy about an unlikely hero. It has the same sprawling ambition as Luck, with moments of genuine wit and some inventive action sequences.
But The film is overstuffed and loses focus constantly. It tries to be everything at once and rarely lands any of it cleanly.

The Italian Job2003
A slick ensemble heist with charm and humor. The team dynamic and the pleasure of watching professionals execute something clever is intoxicating, even when the stakes feel artificial.
But It's slight and doesn't linger in the mind. If you're looking for substance or emotional weight, you'll come away feeling a bit empty.

Mission: Impossible II2000
John Woo's maximalist action film, all style and vertiginous spectacle. It's ridiculous and gorgeous, with hand-to-hand combat sequences that are genuinely beautiful to watch.
But The plot is tissue-thin and exists only to connect action sequences. If narrative coherence matters to you, this will frustrate rather than thrill.

Holiday2014
An Akshay Kumar action-thriller with international locations, a solid cast, and enough plot twists to keep you engaged. It's competent and entertaining without pretending to be more.
But It's fairly generic and forgettable. The characters don't stick with you, and the story hits familiar beats without much innovation or surprise.

Slumdog Millionaire2008
Both explore whether luck is a real force or a story we tell ourselves, but Slumdog uses Mumbai's chaotic energy and Luck uses international glamour—opposite registers for the same question.
Danny Boyle's kinetic, globe-spanning narrative about chance, survival, and the question of whether luck is real or whether it's memory. The energy is infectious and the form is inventive: rapid cuts, music, color, movement.
But It's heavily stylized in ways that can feel manipulative. Some find the poverty-tourism aspects troubling, and the love story is thin. The film doesn't earn the weightlessness it claims.
