Should you watch it?

Watch it if you love big, unhurried science fiction built on desert textures, dread-heavy politics and sound design so heavy you feel it in your ribs, and you don't mind a story that keeps its cards close.

Skip it if you want brisk plotting or a clear payoff every twenty minutes; at nearly three hours it spends long stretches on silence, wind and staring, and the momentum is deliberate rather than relentless.

What it asks of you: Roughly 167 minutes of patient, sombre build with long wordless passages and grand set pieces, so you need to settle in and let the scale and atmosphere do the work.

Both films ask the same question about manufactured messiahs and the mobs that need them — Dune plays it as tragedy, this plays it as farce, but the mechanism of belief is identical.

A comedy about a reluctant man mistaken for a messiah by crowds desperate for one — sharp, silly, and unexpectedly devastating about how prophecy gets made whether the chosen one wants it or not.

But Broad Python slapstick and dated production values; some will find the religious satire too irreverent or simply not funny.
