William Adama

William Adama commands the Galactica, an aging warship due for decommissioning until the Cylons launch a devastating surprise attack on humanity. Gruff, weathered, and deeply principled, he becomes the reluctant leader of the last remnants of civilization, holding to duty and hard-won wisdom over easy comfort. He trusts his crew, distrusts politicians, and carries the weight of command without complaint.

Olmos plays Adama with a stillness that makes every word land heavier — a growl and a pause doing the work other actors would spend on speeches. The writing gives him real moral friction, torn between military necessity and conscience, and Olmos never lets the character's authority curdle into simple righteousness. He feels genuinely tired, genuinely responsible.
