Wayne Williams

Wayne Williams surfaces in Atlanta as a young, self-assured freelance photographer and self-styled music promoter, hovering at the edges of the investigation into the city's missing and murdered Black children. He talks fast, courts attention, and seems to enjoy being noticed by the agents circling him — a man who clearly believes he is smarter than the room.

Christopher Livingston plays him as slippery rather than sinister, all charm and deflection, which makes the interrogation scenes crackle with ambiguity instead of certainty. The show refuses to hand the audience an easy read on him, and Livingston holds that tension beautifully — you watch the agents work, and watch yourself work too, unsure what you're seeing.
