In 1953, Tronte Nielsen is a quiet, watchful teenager living on the outskirts of Winden with his mother Agnes in a battered caravan. He works odd jobs to scrape by, aware of how the town looks down on his family, and carries a shy, unspoken devotion to a local girl he barely dares approach.
