Tiddler

Tiddler is one of the younger hands on the Junior Gazette, small enough that the nickname sticks and eager enough to keep turning up whether anyone needs her or not. She wants to be taken seriously as a reporter, tagging along on stories and hoping proximity to the older staff will earn her a real byline.

Press Gang's newsroom runs on hierarchy and hard-won status, and Tiddler's presence is a neat running joke about who gets to matter in it. Joanna Dukes plays the eagerness completely straight, without cutesiness, so the character reads as a real kid wanting in rather than comic relief standing outside the door.
