Charles "Tex" Watson sits across from Holden Ford as one more interview subject in the Bureau's growing catalogue of convicted killers — a former Manson Family member serving time for the Tonate-LaBianca murders. He speaks calmly, almost reasonably, framing the past through the language of faith and surrender rather than violence.

Christopher Backus plays him with an eerie, born-again serenity that never tips into performance for its own sake — the horror is in how ordinary and settled he seems. Mindhunter uses him to test the show's central question: whether understanding a killer's mind means understanding, or excusing, what he did.
