Leroy-Baulieu plays withering disdain as a form of comedy, landing a putdown with a raised eyebrow and no wasted movement. The writing could have made Sylvie a one-note obstacle, but the performance suggests a whole worldview underneath the froideur, so every rare flicker of approval feels earned rather than sentimental.
