Sloan Sabbith is ACN's economics reporter, a Duke-trained economist who can explain a bond market crisis in plain English and does not suffer fools while doing it. She's blunt to the point of social disaster off-camera, allergic to small talk, and utterly composed the moment a camera turns on.

Sorkin gives her a rare thing for a cable-news drama: expertise that's actually the point, not a personality trait draped over romance. Olivia Munn plays the gap between Sloan's on-air fluency and her real-life bluntness for comedy without ever making her seem lesser for it — competence and awkwardness coexist happily.
