Senshi

Senshi is a gruff, bearded dwarf who has spent years alone in the dungeon, surviving by cooking the monsters other adventurers only fight. When Laios's party needs a way to eat without wasting money on rations, he joins them, all gravelly pride and genuine delight in a good meal made from something horrifying.

The joke could have stayed a joke, but the show gives Senshi real expertise and real tenderness underneath the monster-cookery gimmick, and Hiroshi Naka plays him with a warmth that never curdles into whimsy. He's funniest when he's most sincere, and that sincerity is what makes him the emotional anchor of the group.
