Character
Rip Wheeler
Rip Wheeler in Yellowstone (2018), played by Cole Hauser.
Rip Wheeler is the Dutton ranch's most loyal enforcer, a man John Dutton took in as a boy and who now handles the family's dirtiest problems without question. Quiet, scarred, and fiercely protective of the land and the people on it, he lives by a code of loyalty that asks nothing about right or wrong.
Cole Hauser plays Rip with a stillness that makes his rare tenderness land like a gut-punch — the same hands that brand trespassers also cradle a wounded animal. The show lets his devotion double as menace, and Hauser never tips which one you're seeing until it's too late.
Rip Wheeler is a main character on Yellowstone and Dutton Ranch. He was an employee at Yellowstone before it was sold. He was the "fixer" and sometimes the bruiser for the Dutton Family. He is also the husband of Bethany Dutton and John's son-in-law.
