Richard Speck

Richard Speck is already behind bars when Holden Ford and Bill Tench come to interview him, one more inmate to be studied for the Bureau's research into violent offenders. He treats the session as a joke at their expense, cracking wise, flirting with menace, and refusing to take the two agents — or their questions — seriously.

Jack Erdie plays him as pure unbothered swagger, all crude jokes and prison-yard bravado, which makes the scene queasier than any confession could. Mindhunter never asks you to sympathize with him; it asks you to watch two men trying to extract insight from someone who finds the whole enterprise, and them, hilarious.
