Principal Edwards presides over the school hierarchy that Heartstopper's students must navigate, a steady authority figure glimpsed at the edges of assemblies, corridors, and disciplinary moments. Composed and measured, she represents the institutional adult world the boys move through as they figure out who they are and who they love.

Rebecca Root brings a calm, grounded presence to a role that could easily be background noise, giving the school itself a face that feels lived-in rather than generic. Her casting quietly extends the show's inclusive ethos beyond its central romance, without ever making a show of it.
