Phillip Broyles

Phillip Broyles runs Fringe Division out of Boston, the stone-faced federal agent who recruits Olivia Dunham and keeps Walter and Peter Bishop tethered to something resembling official sanction. He gives orders in a near-whisper, reveals nothing more than necessary, and clearly knows more about the case-of-the-week weirdness than he's saying.

Lance Reddick plays authority as something worn rather than performed, all economy and stillness, so that the smallest crack in his composure lands like a shout. The writing keeps him at arm's length from the audience deliberately, and Reddick makes that withholding feel like depth rather than distance, a man carrying weight we haven't been shown yet.
