Old Ulrich Nielsen 1987

By 1987, Ulrich Nielsen is no longer the man who vanished from a search party — he is older, gray, weathered, and locked away in an asylum cell, watched over by orderlies who think him mad. He says little, gives nothing away, and carries himself like someone who has already lived through everything that is about to happen.

Glatzeder plays him with the exhausted patience of a man who has stopped expecting to be believed, which turns a simple detained-madman setup into something eerier: every flat, weary line suggests knowledge rather than delusion. Dark trusts the audience to feel the wrongness of an old face where a young one should be, and Glatzeder never oversells it.
