Nishiki Nishio

Nishiki Nishio is a ghoul with a chip on his shoulder, first appearing as a menacing rival who has no patience for Kaneki's half-ghoul confusion. He works a mundane job at a bookstore, keeps to himself, and treats the ghoul world's rules as things to be tested rather than followed, sneering at weakness wherever he finds it.

He's introduced purely as a threat, all sharp edges and contempt, which makes it satisfying when the show slowly complicates that first impression without ever softening him into something toothless. Shintaro Asanuma plays the sarcasm with real bite, so the cracks underneath land as character rather than sentimentality.
