Nathan Scott

Nathan Scott is the reigning king of Tree Hill High's basketball court, cocky and used to getting what he wants. He's dating cheerleader Peyton, running with a cruel crowd, and simmering with resentment toward the half-brother he's spent his whole life pretending doesn't exist. Charm and meanness sit right next to each other in him.

The show hands Lafferty a stock jerk-jock role and then dares him to make you believe he can outgrow it. He plays the entitlement without softening it for sympathy, so when cracks show — jealousy, insecurity, a flicker of decency — they land as earned rather than convenient, setting up one of teen TV's more satisfying slow turns.
