Mr Lange

Mr Lange is a teacher at the boys' grammar school in Heartstopper, part of the steady adult backdrop against which the students' lives unfold. He carries himself with quiet authority in the classroom, more a fixture of routine than a figure who draws attention to himself, keeping order without much fuss.

Alan Turkington plays him with an unforced calm that lets the show's teenage drama stay centre stage, exactly what a good background adult should do. There's nothing showy in the performance, just a steady, believable presence that makes the school world feel lived-in rather than staged.
