Miss Broom

Miss Broom appears as one of the authority figures in young Jonny Briggs's world, a teacher whose classroom rules and expectations sit at odds with his scrapes and daydreams. She is brisk, no-nonsense, and unimpressed by excuses, the kind of adult who expects order and gets exasperated when Jonny supplies chaos instead.

Karen Meagher plays the stern-schoolmistress type with just enough dryness that the character never curdles into a cardboard scold. The comedy leans on the gap between her flat, patient authority and Jonny's escalating nonsense, and Meagher's timing keeps that gap sharp rather than cruel, giving the show a steady comic foil.
