Mindy Chen is the nanny Emily stumbles into a friendship with soon after landing in Paris, though her designer wardrobe hints she's not doing it for the money. Warm, blunt, and irrepressibly social, she is the one who actually shows Emily how to live in the city rather than just survive it.

Ashley Park plays Mindy with a bright, unforced generosity that keeps the show's fizzier plots grounded in real affection. She gets the best gag of the pilot era — a wealthy heiress moonlighting as a nanny — and Park's comic timing and, notably, her singing voice turn a sidekick role into the show's most purely enjoyable presence.
