Marcus Cole

Marcus Cole arrives on Babylon 5 as a Ranger — one of the sworn agents of the Army of Light, trained in martial arts and armed with a fighting pike, carrying himself with a rogueish, courtly charm that masks real conviction. He's witty, a little vain, and quick with a flirtatious line, but underneath the banter is a man who has already given up a great deal for a cause he believes in absolutely.

Jason Carter plays him as comic relief who never once feels lightweight: the jokes are armor, and the show lets you see the seams. His unrequited devotion to a fellow crew member is played with restraint rather than mooning sentiment, and his willingness to fight for people who barely notice him gives the humor real weight.
