Character

Lloyd Pierce

Lloyd Pierce in Yellowstone (2018), played by Forrie J. Smith.

Lloyd is one of the old-guard cowboys on the Yellowstone ranch, a lifer who's given his body and years to the Dutton brand. He's gruff, loyal to a fault, and slow to trust anyone new, especially outsiders who haven't earned their place through work and blood. Beneath the weathered exterior is a man fiercely protective of the family he's chosen.

Forrie J. Smith, a real-life rancher and stuntman, brings an authenticity to Lloyd that can't be faked or coached—every gesture and grimace reads as lived-in truth. The writing uses him as the show's moral bedrock, a reminder of what old-fashioned ranch loyalty actually costs, and Smith plays that cost with weary, unshowy dignity.

Lloyd Pierce is the oldest ranch hand on the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch and one of the branded men.
