Lane Kim

Lane Kim is Rory's best friend since kindergarten, the funny, sharp-tongued daughter of Mrs. Kim, who runs a strict Christian household and a tidy antique shop in Stars Hollow. Behind that obedience Lane hides CDs, band posters, and a growing love of drums and rock music her mother would never allow.

The show gives Lane a double life that's funny in its cloak-and-dagger detail and quietly poignant in what it costs her, and Keiko Agena plays both halves without smugness, letting Lane's wit and loyalty to Rory feel completely genuine even as she's hiding entire rooms of herself from the person raising her.
