Laios Thorden

Laios leads a ragtag adventuring party back into a dungeon to rescue his sister, swallowed whole by a dragon. Broke and out of supplies, he proposes the obvious, horrifying solution: eat the monsters they meet along the way. He's earnest, awkward, and far more excited about monster anatomy than is entirely normal.

Kumagai plays him with a flat, guileless sincerity that makes his monster-nerd tangents funnier and his social cluelessness sadder than they'd be played broad. The show keeps threatening to make him a joke — the guy who'd rather classify a basilisk than mourn one — before quietly revealing how much feeling he's not saying out loud.
