Kimara Walters

Kimara Walters works for a local nonprofit that steps in when schools and police fail the students who need them most. When a boy's assault becomes a scandal the adults around him would rather manage than solve, she starts asking the questions everyone else avoids, calm, exacting, and unwilling to let the case get away from her.

Regina King plays her with a controlled intensity that never tips into speechifying — you watch her clock every lie in a room without raising her voice. The show gives her a life outside the case, too, so her persistence reads as character rather than plot function, and King makes her exhaustion and resolve feel like the same thing.
